Stekkjarkot, Njardvik
Ravens bnb surroundings
As world travellers are being more introduced and familiar with Iceland, its beautiful landscape and wild untouched nature they become surprisingly pleased to find that many of the hot spots are within close distance of Keflavik Airport. For example, Reykjanes peninsula is really worth seeing and takes only a day time to explore. There, people can visit highlights as (see videos below) Krisuvik, Seltun, Gunnuhver (1) for geothermal (2) and end up with a reservation at the Blue Lagoon. To embrace the Atlantic Ocean (3) and see the rough and rocky edge of the Reykjanes peninsula (4) , tourists can drive towards the Reykjanes lighthouse (5). And people can also see the Great Oak monument at the same spot. The arctic penguin that was made extinct in the year of 1844 by human greed. For surfers the big waves and the black beach of Hafnarsandur is well known and close by is the bridge between the continents where people can actually pass the great crack of the Euroasian and American plates.
For hikers the trail to Hafnarberg is close by and the tiny little town of Hafnir. (6)
For geological purpose visitors can see many small creators at Reykjanes peninsula and relatively young lava or take a ride more towards the Hengill mountain area to see or make a reservation into a real volcano, a nonactive but very colourful internal of the magnificent Mt. Þrihnjukagigur (www.insidethevolcano.com). Or the Raufarholshellir volcano (www.thelavatunnel.is), not so far. People can enter deep down by an elevator and experience a unique travel into the earth.
In Reykjanes area there are many dark spots where the Northern Lights becomes very visible.
In Njardvik and Keflavik areas there are quite a few museums that are worth seeing. Like the Saga Center in the Viking Museum in Njardvik or the Rock´n Roll Museum in Njardvik. At the Tourist Info Center in Café Duus in Keflavik there is also very interesting Heritage Museum of Reykjanes combined with the old farm, Stekkjarkot.
Many other local spots are interesting to see. Try to locate on your GPS names like, Brimketill, Keilir, Selatangar, Husholmi, Lambafellsgja, Thorbjorn, Gardskagi, Utskalar Hvalsnes and Kotvogur (7).
To archive all above, to explore and experience all this, just make a 2-3 nights booking at Ravensbnb. Or even add more nights as from there people can also make a nice day tours to the Golden Circle (Gullfoss/Geysir/Thingvellir) or for another day tour, travellers can visit the Snæfellsnes peninsula for its beautiful landscape. The third option would be to explore the south coast towards many great waterfalls and the black beach close to Vik. And everybody must make a special day tour to the capital of Reykjavik. In addition, travellers can at site also reserve a local tour for sea angling or whale watching by a boat.
Many local restaurants can be and are highly recommended.
